Who I am

Hi there! My name is Michael Zeng, and I'm a 27-year-old software engineer currently living in Seattle, WA. I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2021. I am originally from Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. One of my biggest hobbies is fencing.

I started this blog, entitled This World and Me, in 2013. Ever since I was young, I knew I liked writing, and I wanted a space where I could freely write about anything I wanted. No time limits, no due dates, no restrictions. I think there's something magical about an empty text box on a computer screen. It could turn into a story, a song, an argument, a letter, a computer program, a philosophical musing – the possibilities are limited only by the extent of one's creativity and imagination.

The posts I publish here are a part of myself. To paraphrase what Adam Young, a musician I greatly admire, once wrote: if, by chance, you ever reach a point where you feel that you've come to know these posts, then consider yourself a friend, because through these posts, you know me. These posts are who I am. These posts are me, stumbling about through this vast world I like to think of as home.
